ALUMNI AWARD WINNERS

DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI AWARD 2006

The highest recognition given by the Alumni Association. Eligible alumni include those who have demonstrated continuous, outstanding, creative and exemplary contributions to the discipline of nursing or to healthcare or have made noteworthy contributions in other fields. The 2006 Award Recipients are:

James E. Hovey, MSN '94, RN


James E. Hovey has been employed in psychiatry and neurology as an administrator, researcher, consultant, nurse, nursing faculty member and clinical specialist in psychiatric nursing. (MORE)

   

Russell C. Swansburg, PhD, BSN '52, RN


The Distinguished Alumnus Award recognizes Russell C. Swansburg’s outstanding scholarship and dedication to advancing nursing leadership and health care through his administrative expertise, extensive
publications and creative educational programming. (MORE)


AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE 2006

Recognizes alumni who have made significant contributions in nursing or related areas of healthcare. Candidates must have established careers that show evidence of meritorious contributions to the discipline while promoting a standard of practice worthy of the Award for Excellence. The 2006 Award Recipient is:

Gayle Ann Roberts, CNP, MSN '01, RN


Gayle Ann Roberts is a certified women’s health nurse practitioner at Northeast Ohio Obstetrics/Gynecology, Inc., in Massillon, Ohio. She is also an adjunct faculty member
at Malone College School of Nursing in Canton, Ohio, where she teaches health assessment, community health, mathematics
and statistics, research, pathophysiology, advanced health assessment, and women’s health. (MORE)


2006 ALUMNI ASSOCIATION PRESIDENT'S AWARD

Ruth A. O'Brien, PhD, MSN '66, RN, FAAN

 

Ruth A. O’Brien is a professor at the University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center in the School of Nursing. She teaches public health nursing at the graduate level and teaches in the research core for the doctoral program. (MORE)
