ALUMNI RELATIONS

MESSAGE FROM THE ALUMNI BOARD PRESIDENT

Alumni President's Message

Fellow Alumni & Friends,

I am very pleased to be able to give back to a school that has played such an important part in my education by serving as this year's Alumni Association Board President. As a graduate of the class of 2001, I want to emphasize that it is never too early to get involved. Many graduates wait until much later in their careers to play a role in the alumni association, but I decided upon graduation that I wanted to participate right away, and I have thoroughly enjoyed the opportunities this involvement has afforded me to meet and work with fellow alumni.

First, I want to offer my congratulations to the Class of 2007 and welcome you to membership in the FPB Alumni Association. The impact that recent FPB graduates can have on prospective and current students is enormous. Please consider volunteering to have lunch with a prospective student, or attend an FPB open house to discuss your experiences in the nursing program. Every great profession passes on its core principles through mentorship, which is the key to building and sustaining our profession. In fact, mentorship, participation, and giving are simple ways to pay it forward for our wonderful school and therefore to advance the nursing profession.

I invite all alumni to increase your participation by getting involved in the FPB Alumni Association. Your input on the board or one one of its committees would be indispensible in helping us to accomplish our goals. Consider volunteering at a pinning ceremony or at our annual "Nursing Career Connections" event. What a wonderful opportunity to reminisce while sharing in a special moment!

Finally, if FPB is to continue to push the envelope in research, teaching, and service, all of us must be committed to giving. Tuition alone never covers the enormous costs of running a fine school such as FPB. Thus, it is because of the generous support of alumni and friends of FPB that we are where we are today. Let it be by our generous support that current and future students have the same opportunities. Contributing--either through the Annual Fund or through a planned gift or other giving vehicle--ensures that there will be future generations of FPB-prepared nurses to care for you and me when we need them most.

Sincerely,

ford
