School of Medicine brain aging expert challenges the existence of Alzheimer's as a disease

Case Western Reserve University Professor of Neurology and UCAH Associate Peter Whitehouse challenges conventional wisdom and assumptions of brain aging in his new book, The Myth of Alzheimer's: What You Aren't Being Told About Today's Most Dreaded Disease.

In his provocative and ground-breaking new book, Whitehouse questions current approaches to Alzheimer's disease (AD) diagnosis and treatment and brings a new understanding to everything we thought we knew about brain aging.

Recently published is the Handbook of Aging and the Social Sciences, 6th edition, edited by Robert H. Binstock of Case Western Reserve University and Linda K. George of Duke University.

This is the 30th anniversary of the first edition, published in 1976, edited by Dr. Binstock and Ethel Shanas of the University of Illinois, Chicago. In addition to a chapter by Dr. Binstock, the opening chapter is by CoAH Faculty Associate Richard A. Settersten, Jr. on "Aging and the Life Course."

Springer Publishing Company has also recently published our next edited book from our 14th annual Florence Cellar Conference held on October 7, 2002. The title of the book is Successful Aging Through the Life Span: Intergenerational Issues in Health.
