Dedicated to Evidence-Based Practice

Welcome to the Sarah Cole Hirsh Institute for Best Nursing Practices Based on Evidence. One of the first of its kind, the Institute was established by the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing in 1998.

The Hirsh Institute has awarded 247 basic certificates and 79 intermediate certificates in evidence-based practice to nurses from throughout Ohio, other Midwestern states, and states throughout the Northeast and Southeast since June 2007.

The Hirsh Institute conducts evidence syntheses, engages in consulting, and provides certificate programs that prepare nurses to identify and implement best practices based on evidence. It also facilitates and mentors others in the transfer of research knowledge into practice and searches for and synthesizes current research on specific topics.
