DISCOVER NURSING

The Discover Nursing program's mission is to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to improve health and reduce suffering in the global community. Discover Nursing students will acquire advanced degrees in nursing, business, public health, law or some other related field during the early stages of their careers. These students come from Garrett Morgan Middle School and the Health Careers Center magnet school in Cleveland.

PURPOSESeniors Class of 2006

The purpose of Discover Nursing at Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing is to increase nursing education opportunities for individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds, specifically, African American (AA) and Hispanic American (HA) persons, by providing pre-entry preparation, and retention activities designed to assist them to become professional nurses.

Another major objective is to help the Discover Nursing students expand their insights into career options and assist them toward pursuing advanced specialty degrees in nursing and assuming leadership roles in research, practice, administration, nursing education, and public policy.

Discover Nursing also endeavors to mentor and coach students, facilitate communications, and build relationships across cultures among students and faculty at Case Western Reserve University and throughout the Greater Cleveland Community.
