DOCTOR OF NURSING PRACTICE (DNP)

DNP ENTRY OPTIONS

There are three main options for entry into the DNP program, depending on your background and education. These requirements vary, so be sure you are looking at the correct admissions requirements by checking out Which Program Is Best for Me? Click on the links to review each entry option. Our recruitment advisors are always available to help.

• ENTRY OPTION 1
IF YOU ARE NOT AN RN - but have a baccalaureate degree in a non-nursing discipline, please see our Graduate Entry Program for Non-Nurses.

• ENTRY OPTION 2
IF YOU ARE AN RN AND DO NOT HOLD A MASTERS DEGREE - You can apply for entry into the DNP program, but you will need to complete your MSN.

RN with ADN or Diploma—See RN to MSN

RN with a BA or BS-See Portfolio Option in the MSN Program

RN with BSN- See MSN Admission Requirements

The benefit of entering the DNP program directly is that even though you must complete your MSN before taking many of the DNP courses, some of the DNP courses can be completed concurrently with your MSN work. This shortens the time needed to complete your DNP. Our graduate admissions advisors and program director are available to design the program that is best for you.

• ENTRY OPTION 3
IF YOU ARE AN RN AND HOLD A MASTERS DEGREE IN NURSING- You are admitted directly into the DNP program based on the following requirements:

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a masters degree in nursing

An interview with the faculty by phone, or in person to discuss career goals

A completed application with a statement of research interests (for your research project or thesis)

Satisfactory scores on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or Miller Analogies Test (MAT).  Previous scores as documented on an original official report will be accepted.

In addition, advanced practice nursing certification or eligibility for the certification is required for the Clinical Leadership Track option.
