DIRECTOR, NURSE ANESTHESIA PROGRAM

FRANCES PAYNE BOLTON SCHOOL OF NURSING, CASE WESTERN RESERVE UNIVERSITY, CLEVELAND, OH

Case Western Reserve University and Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing (FPB) invite applicants to apply for a twelve-month full-time faculty position as Director of a well-established Nurse Anesthesia Program in the School of Nursing. The Anesthesia Program Directorwill directly report to the Director of the Masters of Science in Nursing Program and is an integral part of the school's leadership team.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provides administrative leadership of nurse anesthesia program;
  • Maintains program standards consistent with the criterion of the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs;
  • Completes accreditation and other important reports;
  • Develops and administers the budget for the nurse anesthesia program;
  • Provides primary oversight of program curriculum;
  • Assigns and coordinates didactic faculty responsibilities;
  • Interviews, selects and evaluates anesthesia faculty and students;
  • Serves as program liaison between the clinical sites and FPB to secure clinical partnerships and coordinate student placements;
  • Maintains professional expertise through appropriate educational/organizational activities;
  • Serves on appropriate university committees

Requirements

  • A record of effective leadership in nurse anesthesia education;
  • Doctoral degree with current practice experience, CRNA certification and eligibility for APRN licensure in Ohio;
  • Experience in administering a Nurse Anesthesia program;
  • Knowledge of curricular design;
  • Prior experience with COA accreditation processes and outcomes assessment

Other Requirements and Qualifications

  • Evidence of excellent critical thinking, and organizational, operational, written and verbal skills;
  • Must be comfortable and skilled at public speaking;
  • Effective project planning and implementation skills;
  • Substantial computer and technology skills sufficient to meet teaching and administrative responsibilities - advanced level preferred;
  • Evidence of grant-writing skills;
  • Published in peer review journals;
  • Engagement in significant scholarship and active service as defined in the Case Western Reserve University and FPB Faculty Handbooks;
  • A record of active service within the nurse anesthesia professional community that would enhance this leadership role is also expected

The Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing collaborates and shares facilities with multiple clinical sites in Ohio including University Hospitals of Cleveland, Cleveland Clinic Foundation, MetroHealth Medical Center, Southwest General Hospital, and Summa Health Care System. Located on the beautiful campus of Case Western Reserve University, our building features teaching laboratories, conference spaces, health sciences library, a simulated operating room suite and numerous standardized patient rooms.
