At Case, everyone has a choice which email address they would like to use. They can choose from firstname.lastname@case.edu or UserID@case.edu.
However, Case gives you even more alternatives.
Your official email will still be firstname.lastname, but you may create up to five personal mail aliases and one preferred firstname.lastname mail alias.
What does that mean? Well, personal mail aliases are a fun way to personalize your case email. They are first come, first serve, but can be a nickname, or something that describes YOU better than the traditional firstname.lastname format. All mail sent to your aliases will go directly to your regular Case email account.
Examples of unique email aliases:
numberonenurse@case.edu
reallyniftynurse@case.edu
funfratguy@case.edu
To read more about personal mail aliases and to sign up for yours, please go to: https://its-services.cwru.edu/mailalias/
NOTE: Your mail aliases will expire when you graduate or are no longer affiliated with the University.
But what if you like the firstname.lastname format, but folks know you as Lynn instead of Marilynn?
Case allows you ONE preferred firstname.lastname alias. This is shortened as PFDL. You may sign up for yours here: https://its-services.cwru.edu/pFDL/
NOTE: You will still be able to use your firstname.lastname and other aliases.
I have seen so many other variations of the Case email addresses. Do those still work?
You may have noticed 'old school' addresses still being used at Case.
They may be in such formats as 'abc12@cwru.edu' or 'abc12@po.cwru.edu', etc.
Yes. They are still valid email addresses. And in fact, if you add up all of the variations, aliases and so on, the author of this website has 32 EMAIL ADDRESSES that all lead to her one individual UserID!
But when it boils down to it, Case recommends that you use FDL or PFDL@case.edu.
