POPUPS

Popups

Popups are not only annoying, but they can be malicious and be caused by spyware or adware.

How to install a Popup Blocker

If you have Windows XP Service Pack 2, you automatically have a popup blocker installed in Internet Explorer. If you would like additional blockers, the Google Toolbar is recommended or your ISP may recommend one of its own.

How to allow a Popup

Many times you may want the popup to appear. For example, when using mail.case.edu, in order to compose or reply to a message, the site uses a popup window. To allow this on a case by case basis, just hold the CTRL key down, and then press the Compose/Reply/whichever button and continue to hold CTRL until the popup appears. (This works for Windows XP SP2 and Google Toolbar popup blockers. Other blockers may have a different override key.)
If you want to PERMANENTLY allow popups from a specific site, say, mail.case.edu, you can do that as well within the settings of each blocker.

How to always allow a POPUP in Windows XP Service Pack 2
Open Internet Explorer
Click "Tools"
Click "POPUP Blocker"
Click "POPUP Blocker Settings"
Enter the site address
Click "Add"

You may also configure other settings there as well.
