MICROSOFT PRODUCER

Those with IE7, who wish to make Producer lectures, please see our work around to the scripting issue here.

Many faculty like to use Producer to create PowerPoint lectures and put them on the web.
Faculty then place that web link into their courses on BlackBoard or their agendas.

What is Producer
Producer is a free product from Microsoft that allows a user to import and narrate PowerPoint lectures, and publish them for use on a computer, CD or the internet.
Here in the school, most instructors publish their lectures to their computer (NOT IN MY DOCUMENTS, please read the instructions for further explanation), then copy the lecture to Trapper, our coursework server.
They then take the web link of a particular lecture and paste it into BlackBoard, where students can click on the link, to connect them to the lecture on Trapper.

Where do I start?
Producer is installed on everyones computer by default, however, there are a few things that need to be done before one is able to use it and place their lecture on the web:

1. Advise FPB IT that you are interested in using Producer

2. Retrieve a microphone from the IT dept.

3. Advise IT of your course number and have a folder set up on Trapper

You are now ready to start your setup, and then use Producer! There are important steps to take, so please follow the instructions carefully. If you need assistance, please contac the FPB Help Desk at 368.6322.
