How to use the scanner for DOCUMENTS
- Place
document in the scanner.
- Go to Start/Programs/Microsoft Office/Office
Tools/Microsoft Office Document Scanning

- It
will open a Scan New Document window. Choose your color options, choose PROMPT FOR ADDITIONAL PAGES and
click SCAN.
- It
will open a STATUS IO window
(you can now close the Scan New Document window).
- When
you are complete with scanning, in the Status IO window, choose TOOLS, SEND TEXT TO WORD.
- Choose
ALL PAGES, MAINTAIN PICTURES IN
OUTPUT and click ok.
- You
can now manipulate the document in Word. REMEMBER, many times with OCR
scanning, the pictures and formatting are not retained. You will have to
edit your document.
- Save
the document as normal to a disk. (instructions for saving to your H drive
below)
- When
you close the STATUS IO window,
it will ask you to save the .tif file, DO NOT SAVE IT. Choose
NO.
Close all Windows and log out..
How to save to your H
drive.
- You should have logged in with your
user ID and PASSWORD.
- Go to START/RUN and type: \\hotlips
- Click ok.
- Find your folder, and RIGHT CLICK IT.
- Choose MAP drive, and pick the letter
H, and make sure RECONNECT AT LOGON is checked.
- Click OK.
Now you can do a SAVE
AS, and choose H, like you normally do.
REMEMBER TO LOG OFF
OF THE COMPUTER!!!!!!! OTHERWISE ANYONE
CAN GET INTO YOUR H DRIVE!
