How to Scan using the Feeding Tray on the HP 8200

(Documents or PDF)

 

 

  1. Log into the computer with YOUR username and password. (The one that you use to log in to your computer…)
  2. To create a document/PDF out of multiple pages, place your pages, face up, top to the left in the feeder. If you only have one page, you may use either the feeder or the flatbed.
    1. Note: if you would like to make several separate PDF’s, instead of one PDF containing all of your pages, you may do so. Just repeat steps 2-9.
    2. Note #2: you can do one side or duplex (if you have a front and back document) with the tray, by toggling the duplex switch on the top of the cover.
    3. Note #3: please do not turn the scanner off (power button on top). Keep the scanner turned on for other users.
  3. On the computer, start HP Director.
  4. Choose Scan Documents.
  5. In the Hp Scanning window, make sure Scan to is set to Save to File.
  6. Let the scanner do it’s thing…
  7. A window will appear at the end giving you the option to add more pages (if necessary) or to save the pages you have now. Choose the appropriate option.
  8. When you choose Done, it will ask you to save. You may choose between PDF (for Acrobat) or RTF.
  9. Give your PDF a name, and save the document. When you finish, you may save the item in My Documents momentarily. You must remove the documents when you are finished, saving them to your USB key, H drive, etc and deleting them from the scanner computer…in order to move them to your computer. You may also save them DIRECTLY onto your USB key or the your H drive.

 

How to save them to your USB key

 

  1. Plug your USB key into the computer.
    1. The usb ports are on the front, accessible by lifting up the front grey dell panel.
    2. The USB key will show up as drive G in My Computer
  2. With your new PDF document open, click File, Save As and choose your USB drive (G) under My Computer.

 

How to save them to your H drive

 

  1. First, you need to map your H drive.
    1. Go to My Computer and click Tools, Map Network Drive.
    2. Choose the letter H, and in the path type:   \\hotlips\abc12 (replace abc12 with YOUR userID)
    3. Check Reconnect at Logon, and click OK.
    4. Now you will have your H drive on that computer when you log in. REMEMBER TO LOG OFF OF THE COMPUTER WHEN YOU ARE DONE!
  2. With your new PDF document open, click File, Save As and choose your H drive. That’s it!

 

 

LOG OFF WHEN YOU ARE COMPLETE!!!!!!
