Welcome
At the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing, clinical practice experiences start the very first semester of freshman year. Students also begin their undergraduate education in our major research university immersed in small interdisciplinary seminars through SAGES--the Seminar Approach to General Education and Scholarship. Embarking on an educational journey at FPB is an exciting experience, with much to anticipate and prepare!

Checklist of Steps to Begin Your BSN Experience
This checklist is intended to serve as a reference to the tasks you need to complete as you get ready to begin your experience as a BSN student at FPB.
1. Complete all Case enrollment procedures |
2. Register for Case Western Reserve University Summer Orientation Session |
3. Plan to attend Prepare to CareAll Freshman and transfer nursing majors entering the BSN program in the fall semester (August) 2009 are required to attend Prepare to Care, the mandatory nursing welcome and preparation for fall semester hospital and community health clinical assignments. Prepare to Care is scheduled for August 17th and 18th 2009. Check out the agenda. Note that Case's Orientation Summer Session IV (August 17th and 18th) conflicts with Prepare to Care. Please make every effort to sign up for Case's Orientation Summer Sessions I, II, or III. |
4. Move in: Sunday, August 16, 2009New BSN students are expected to move into their dormitories on August 16, 2009 so they can be settled for Prepare to Care. Because of Prepare to Care, your move-in is a few days earlier than the date assigned to other freshmen. Your move-in is Sunday, August 16, 2009. Please disregard information you may receive about a 8/19 move-in, which is for non-nursing freshmen. |

Fall Freshman Students: Starting classes August 24, 2009 Download the Freshman Fall 2009 NURS Template Schedule (Excel) As an important part of the mandatory Case's summer orientation session all students will meet with a NURS faculty member to discuss the fall schedule and will be helped to use the Student Information System (SIS) and to register for fall classes. |

8. Order your fall books and supplies after you have registered for classesYou may use the University Bookstore to directly order many of your books or to check the required books and order from an online vendor.
SPECIAL NOTE: During Prepare to Care, all members of the class of 2013 will be presented with a fine-quality stethoscope as a gift from the BSN Program. |
