FAQ FOR GRADUATE ENTRY DNP STUDENTS 2007

Updated 6/11/07
Frequently Asked Questions

1. When and how do I register for classes?

The Graduate Entry DNP students take courses taught just for them. So there is no chance you would be closed out of a course.

A tentative schedule for Fall, 2008 and the curriculum for the class entering Fall, 2008 are posted below.

The current listings on the CWRU searchable schedule are NOT accurate.

We are undertaking the required multi-step processes necessary to update the searchable schedule and will notify you when that is done.

At that point, we will provide detailed guidelines on how to register and how to submit your requests for clinical day and labs.

2. What is the schedule for 2008 Orientation?

Attendance at both orientation sessions is required.

Thursday, August 21: 1:00 PM - 4:30 PM

Friday, August 22: 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM

You will receive detailed information about orientation in mid-August.

3. What do I need to do to be prepared to start first year clinical practice?

Read and take action to meet the requirements for immunizations, liability insurance, CPR certification, and background check (see separate section on this website). You cannot begin clinical experiences unless documentation of meeting these requirements has been provided to, Anne Watson, the Graduate Entry DNP Department Assistant and the University Health Service (for health information).

Order your uniforms well in advance. See separate section of this website for details.

4. What shoes are appropriate to wear for clinical practice?

Any white closed-toe shoe is fine.

White athletic shoes may be worn but should be reserved solely for clinical practice.

White clogs are also acceptable as long as they enclose the full foot.

5. When will I learn of my actual clinical assignment?

In the first semester, all students are assigned to faculty supervised clinical practice groups at University Hospitals of Cleveland (UHHS). Students may submit their request for clinical day on Monday or Wednesday to Dr. Lindell (see separate section on registration). Assignments to specific units will be distributed at orientation.

6. How do I know which textbooks to buy?

Faculty will list required and recommended textbooks and other materials in the syllabus for the course.

Syllabi are posted on the Blackboard site for the course.

Once you register and have activated your CWRU network ID, you can access the Blackboard site. Once the site is ready, the course faculty will activate the site so you can retrieve the syllabus and other information.
