MesukkoPhD student Jutarat Mesukko received funding for her dissertation entitled "Quality of Dying and Death, Barriers, and Facilitators to Providing Pediatric End-of-Life Care in Intensive Care Units in Thailand: Critical Care Nurses’ Perceptions" from the Alpha Mu Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International.

HeinzerMarjorie M. (Peg) Heinzer, PhD, PNP-BC, CRNP has been invited to participate in the program committee of the American Bone Health Organization, formerly the Osteoporosis Foundation. This is a preliminary step to being appointed to the Advisory Board for the organization.

GaryJohn Clochesy, PhD, RN, FAAN, FCCM, Independence Foundation Professor of Nursing Education, will oversee the Office of Faculty Diversity and be responsible for faculty diversity matters related to recruitment, employment and equal opportunity, including reviewing allegations of sexual harassment or discrimination against or about faculty and facilitating Americans with Disabilities Act accommodations for faculty members. The FDO also reports faculty diversity data to the Faculty Senate and serves on university committees concerned with faculty diversity issues. Clochesy will work closely with Vice President Marilyn Sanders Mobley in serving as a resource for all faculty. Read more.

GaryFaye A. Gary, EdD, RN, FAAN was invited to present at two preconference institutes on October 7-8 at the 21st Annual International Conference on Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, put on by CHADD (Children and Adults with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder). The first is “AD/HD and Its Links to Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice," and the second is “Providing Good AD/HD Care for Culturally Diverse Families." Both were given at the Cleveland Convention Center.

Dr. Gary will also have a principle role on the Case Western Reserve University Faculty Senate Committee on Women.

KenneleyIrena L. Kenneley, PhD, APRN-BC, CIC has been selected to participate in the session "Opportunities for Infection Prevention Program Design and Strategies for the Diverse, Unstructured Environment of Care Known as Home Health Care." This session will be presented at the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc. (APIC) 37th Annual Educational Conference and International Meeting, on behalf of APIC and the 2010 Annual Conference Committee.

Prince-PaulDalyBarbara Daly, PhD, RN, FAAN and Maryjo Prince-Paul, PhD, APRN, ACHPN are the principal investigator and co-investigator, respectively, for their research project entitled "Building the End-of-Life Science through Positive Human Strengths and Traits (BEST) Center." This project received P30 grant funding from NIH/National Institute of Nursing Research. The BEST Center is now FPB's sixth Center of Excellence.

ClochesyJohn Clochesy, PhD, RN, FAAN, FCCM received funding for his research project entitled "Electronic Self-Management Resource Training to Reduce Health Disparities (eSMART-HD)." This RC2 GO grant was funded by the National Institutes of Health.

LudingtonAbouelfettohAmel Abouelfettoh, PhD, RN and Susan Ludington, PhD, CNM, FAAN received the First Place Award for their abstract entitled "Immune Response of Preterm Infants to Skin-to-Skin Contact" at the 25th Annual Pediatric Nursing Conference.

KilanowskiJill Kilanowski, PhD, RN, CPNP was the recipient of the 2009 Child Advocate Award by the Executive Board of the Ohio Chapter of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP).

WilliamsMoorePrincipal Investigator Shirley Moore, PhD, RN, FAAN, and Co-Investigator Ann Williams, PhD, RN received funding for their research project entitled "Full Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities in Self-Management Research: The FIND Lab." This grant is a supplement to the P30 Smart Center, issued under the American Recovery and ReInvestment Act of 2009 from NIH and the National Institute of Nursing Research.

Respress, PhD(c), RN, MSN, MPH, CPNP submitted her abstract entitled, “Social Determinants of Adolescent Risk Behaviors: An Examination of Depressive Symptoms, Substance Use, Sexual, and Suicide Risk Behaviors,” which has been approved for oral presentation at the Caribbean Exploratory Research Center’s 2nd Annual Health Disparities Institute, October 15 – 16, 2009 in St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands.
