Assistant Professor and Associate Director of the University Center on Aging and Health Evelyn Duffy, DNP, ANP/GNP-BC, FAANP spoke to WKYC Channel 3 News about the efforts of nursing homes to reduce the number of falls by their residents.
While nursing homes are making progress, research shows that one in five falls may still be preventable.
"The people that live in nursing homes are the most frail and the most vulnerable population of people," Duffy says. "They have a lot of chronic illnesses that put them at more risk of falling."
