Working as a nurse doesn't mean you have to work in a hospital.

If you want to travel the high seas, work as a crime scene investigator, hike through rugged and remote areas, or even serve as an expert witness, then a career in nursing may be for you, according to the Case Western Reserve University co-author of 201 Careers in Nursing (Springer Publishing, Inc.).

These days, nurses do more than monitor blood pressure and take a patient’s temperature, says Joyce J. Fitzpatrick, a registered nurse and a professor of nursing at Case Western Reserve’s Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing.

201 Careers in Nursing points out the diversity of careers in nursing and offers guidance about education and professional requirements and real-world examples of people who have chosen unique career paths.

“201 Careers in Nursing particularly targets high school students, guidance counselors and even nurses who want to expand their career options,” Fitzpatrick said.
