A student team from FPB and the School of Medicine represented Case Western Reserve University in the CLARION Interdisciplinary Case Competition on April 16-17 in Minneapolis. Of twelve teams invited to participate, CWRU was one of only two new universities to participate this year.

CLARION is an organization based at the University of Minnesota that is dedicated to improving health care through interprofessional collaboration. As part of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI), medical, nursing, pharmacy, and health administration students participating in CLARION meet together during their free time to better understand the skills that each member of the team brings to the care of patients.

Though they didn’t place, the CWRU team devoted considerable time and effort to researching the topic, preparing their analysis and recommendations, and polishing their twenty-minute presentation (plus a Q&A session with five judges). Their faculty advisors were FPB's Deborah Lindell and Mary Dolansky as well as the School of Medicine's Mimi Singh and Bob Wolford. The IHI Open School Chapter looks forward to having a team participate in the CLARION next year.
