PRECEPTOR PROGRAM

PRECEPTOR IN THE SPOTLIGHT

Tonia Grabowski, MSN, GNP-BCTonia Grabowski

Tonia was selected by the students to receive the “Preceptor of the Year”award at the May graduation ceremony.

Tonia is a graduate of FPB with a BSN in 1998 and an MSN in 2006.  Tonia received this award in her first year as a preceptor for the NP students of FPB.  Tonia feels that it is “essential to teach our future colleagues within our geriatric specialty”.   She enjoys teaching but also feels that she continues to learn from her students.  Tonia says that her senior clientele really enjoy the interaction with the students as well.

Tonia works at University Hospitals in the Elderhealth Center and also provides care to long term care patients at McGregor.  About her practice setting, Tonia states: "I work with a wonderful group of gerontological NPs and geriatricians who are very supportive in our many realms of practice within the geriatric population.  They are truly committed to the population we serve.  There is a great appreciation for continuing education, teaching, research and individual diversity in practice."

Tonia is a member of ANA, ONA, GCNA, NCGNP, GSA, OAAPN, and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.  She takes an active role in these associations to keep abreast of clinical and professional issues.

On a personal note, Tonia and her husband celebrate the arrival of their first child this month.  With this joyous life event, Tonia explains, "keeping a healthy balance between work and family/friends is essential above all else."

Congratulations, Tonia!

Molly KennedyMolly Kennedy, RN, MSN, PNP-BC

Molly is a graduate of the Bolton School of Nursing, first in 1994 with her BSN, then in 1996 with her MSN. She currently works at University Suburban Pediatrics and has been precepting NP students for the past 10 years.  Molly provides an outstanding learning environment and shows a great dedication to teaching and sharing her expertise.  Molly says she precepts because she “enjoys teaching students”.  She also enjoys her practice because it is a small practice, consisting of mainly orthodox jewish families and she has an excellent working relationship with her collaborating physician, Rachel Garber.

Molly is a member of NAPNAP and AALNC (American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants). In addition to her clinical practice and dedication to teaching, Molly enjoys long distance running and spending time with her family.  She is expecting her 6th child in June!
