Julia Rose Judge, BSN Student

Expected Year of Graduation: 2009

Hometown: Dayton, Ohio

Came to FPB because...
Case Western Reserve University's Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing offers clinical experience beginning in the freshman year. It was important to me that I began my practical nursing early on so that I would feel more confident when I graduate and enter the field of nursing. I also chose Case Western Reserve because of its proximity to and relationship with prominent medical centers in the Cleveland area.

My most unique FPB experience:
As a sophomore, I was elected as President of the Ohio Nursing Students' Association. This experience changed my life, and it would not have been possible without support from my peers and professors. As president, I helped steer the organization out of financial trouble that had accrued from the previous boards. In October 2007, we had our first successful annual convention and attracted nursing students from all over the state of Ohio and vendors from all over the United States. It is so nice to be at a school where leadership opportunities are supported and encouraged. FPB supported me financially and made it possible for me to be a student and a student leader.

The first word that comes to my mind when I think of:
FPB... Research
Nursing... Foley catheters
Cleveland... Cleveland Clinic
Case Western Reserve University Beautiful!
Clinicals... Experience

The best nursing class at FPB I've taken so far:
My favorite class so far has been Obstetrics. I am extremely interested in OB nursing and I am excited about my class and clinical every week. I've never had a class where I hang onto every word that the professor says. I am learning so much!

The best thing about being an FPB student:
I am so lucky to be an FPB student because I feel like I am part of a big family with similar goals and interests. The FPB family is supportive, and we all work together to make nursing school a wonderful experience.

If I could...
...travel anywhere in the world, I would go to: France
...eat dinner with any one person, living or deceased, real or fictional, I would choose: My grandmother I never knew
...live in any era throughout history, I would pick: I love the styles of the 1950s, so the 50's!
...invent anything, I would create: A happiness machine

My plans after graduation:
I plan to work in obstetrics for a few years before returning to graduate school to obtain an advanced degree as a nurse practitioner. I look forward to working in the Cleveland area and giving back to the community that I have become part of during the last few years.
