Jessica Vida, BSN Student

Expected Year of Graduation: 2009

Hometown: Seven Hills, Ohio

Came to FPB because...
Case Western Reserve University is a renowned school around the Cleveland area. I was born and raised here in Cleveland, and Case Western has always been an elite school. My sister-in-law graduated from FPB a little over ten years ago, and she really influenced my decision to apply as a nursing student myself.

My most unique FPB experience:
Well, I am a transfer student, so technically I have only been on campus since July 2007. I would have to say that the clinical experience is absolutely amazing. Starting clinicals your freshman year really gets you ahead in the game. Students who graduate from FPB have, in some cases, almost double the amount of required clinical hours, and I am really thrilled about that.

The first word that comes to my mind when I think of:
FPB... Awesome
Nursing... Caring
Cleveland... Sports
Case Western Reserve University... Intelligent
Clinicals... Experience

The best nursing class at FPB I've taken so far:
The best nursing class I've taken at FPB is Pharmacology. This class is so important. Nurses are passing out medication during every single shift, and knowing what they are giving and how it affects their patients is a top priority in the nursing field.

The best thing about being an FPB student:
The best thing about being a student at FPB is how other people react to you when they find out that you are an FPB student! Every time I have told someone I have just met that I go to Case Western Reserve's nursing program, they are always impressed and almost have the reaction of "Wow, you are going places!"

If I could...
...travel anywhere in the world, I would go to: Australia
...eat dinner with any one person, living or deceased, real or fictional, I would choose: My papa (deceased)
...live in any era throughout history, I would pick: I would love to be a baby boomer!
...invent anything, I would create: One drug that would take everyone's physical pain away

My plans after graduation:
My plans after graduation are to get hired at either the Cleveland Clinic or University Hospitals. I would like to gain at least two years experience on the floor before I think of doing something different. Traveling nursing is interesting to me, and public health and teaching are also pathways I see myself traveling as I establish my career.
