Christine Young, BSN Student

Expected Year of Graduation: 2008

Hometown: Massillon, Ohio

Came to FPB because...
I am interested in missions work, and I wanted to be sure I could go to a school which offered plenty of clinical experiences and knowledge. In addition, I wanted a school which would provide me with the opportunity to have a more "mission-like" abroad experience (i.e. the BSN Capstone).

My most unique FPB experience:
As simple and trivial as it may sound, the fact that FPB offers so many clinical hours in such a diverse number of settings is quite rewarding, because students actually have an idea of what they want to do and why, as well as the experience and, in turn, confidence to follow their dreams.

The first word that comes to my mind when I think of:
FPB... Nursing
Nursing... Compassion
Cleveland... Ohio
Case Western Reserve University School
Clinicals... Hospitals

The best nursing class at FPB I've taken so far:
I sincerely enjoy the intensive care courses, for I felt like was forced to push myself both in the classroom and at the clinical sites. Moreover, we were constantly testing and expanding our knowledge in both settings while taking over responsibilities we'd never had before.

The best thing about being an FPB student:
The amount and diversity of clinical hours and experiences.

If I could...
...travel anywhere in the world, I would go to: I've always dreamed of going to Malaysia.
...eat dinner with any one person, living or deceased, real or fictional, I would choose: I'd probably choose my father.
...live in any era throughout history, I would pick: Wow...I'm uncertain! Probably the machine era (1900-1945ish) if I had to choose.
...invent anything, I would create: An honesty serum, because I've never been a fan of liars.

My plans after graduation:
I have a vast number of goals. I would like to work in an ICU to start off, and then go back to school for forensic nursing or possibly midwifery, for I enjoy working in intimate settings with those who really need you to invest your whole self into their lives. Also, I plan to do missions work, both abroad and within the United States, for I believe everyone deserves quality care.
