You are invited to attend a unique one-day conference sponsored by the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing's SMART Center that will examine how nursing research and nurse researchers influence and create health policy across different countries, settings and populations.

Researchers, faculty, post-doctoral fellows, and doctoral students in the health, behavioral, and social sciences are encouraged to attend.

The SMART Center is a National Institute of Nursing Research/National Institute of Health funded Center of Excellence to build the Science of Self-Management: A Systems Approach (P30 NR010676; Shirley Moore, PI).

Polishing Pearls and Other Lessons on Influencing Policy

Dean Tilden is known nationally for research related to end-of-life care. Her research has examined dying from the perspective of patients, families, and clinicians. Her findings have influenced both care management and health policy related to end-of-life care. In 2006, Dr. Tilden was the only nurse appointed by Senator Chuck Hagel to a commission charged with delivering a plan for national health care reform.
