Financial Aid for Graduate Students
All students are encouraged to apply for financial aid. The majority of students are eligible for some type of loan to cover the estimated cost of tuition and expenses for our programs.
The FPB School of Nursing offers the following graduate degree programs:

Joint Degrees
In determining financial need for our programs, the University includes tuition, fees, and standard living allowances such as room and board, books and supplies, travel, and miscellaneous or personal expenses. In order to receive financial aid, students must:

Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

Be enrolled at least half-time (6 credit hours)

Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident

Complete the Case Financial Aid Application

Complete all supporting documentation as requested, i.e. income tax forms, etc.
Financial Aid Programs
Federal Loans
Subsidized Stafford Loan: Low interest rate, interest paid by federal government while student is enrolled in school at least half-time, or in deferment. Repayment begins 6 months after completing your program, and when you are enrolled in less than 5 credit hours. This is a need-based program. Student must have financial need as determined by their FAFSA to be offered this loan.
Unsubsidized Stafford Loan: Low interest rate, the borrower is responsible for all interest that accrues while enrolled in school, and in deferment. Repayment begins 6 months after completing your program, or when you are enrolled in less than 5 credit hours. This is not a need-based program. All may be considered for this loan regardless of their financial need.
Federal Perkins Loan and the Federal Nursing Loan: Low interest rate that begins to accrue upon repayment. Repayment begins 6 months after graduation, or when you are enrolled in less than half-time. This is a need-based program. Students must have financial need as determined by their FAFSA to be offered this loan.
National Health Service Corps (NHSC): NHSC scholarship recipients receive payment for tuition, required fees, and other reasonable educational costs, plus a monthly support stipend and assistance in finding a practice site. Upon graduation, they serve as primary care providers between two and four years in an NHSC-approved site in a high-need Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA). Click here for more information.
Nurse Faculty Loan Program (NFLP): MSN, post-master's DNP, and PhD students planning to serve as faculty at an accredited nursing school after completing their education are eligible for the Nurse Faculty Loan. Students must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and enroll in education courses to meet the requirements for the program. Eighty-five percent of the loan may be canceled by teaching as full-time faculty at a nursing school within the U.S. for four (4) consecutive years. A portion is canceled for each year of service. State Loans
Nurse Educational Assistance Loan Program (NEALP): assistance for Ohio residents in the amount $3,000 per academic year. 20% of the loan per year (5 yr. max) may be forgiven for each year of service as a nurse in Ohio. Grants
DNP Student Grant: FPB offers a grant to pre-licensure DNP students. The award is based on financial need ranging from $1,000 to $3,000 each year. Students must have financial need as determined by their FAFSA to be offered this grant.
The Professional Nurse Traineeship Grant (PNT): FPB was awarded a grant from the Department of Health and Human Services to provide financial assistance for MSN students. (Post-licensure DNP students seeking a MSN are also eligible.) Student must:

Teaching and Research Assistantships: FPB offers teaching and research assistant positions to qualified graduate students with relevant training experience. This is a tremendous opportunity to for students to gain exposure to academia and academic related careers in nursing as well as augment our resources from within FPB.
Other FPB Grants: Grant assistance is available for some advanced practice majors. Currently, Nurse Anesthesia and Gerontological Nurse Practitioner programs offer tuition support. Information is available in the FPB Financial Aid Office.
Scholarships
National Health Service Corps Scholarship
This is an excellent opportunity for full-time graduate students interested in Family Nurse Practitioner and Nurse Midwifery programs. The National Health Service Corp (NHSC) Scholarship includes full tuition and a monthly stipend. If selected for this scholarship, student must commit to work in an under-served facility approved by the NHSC. Employment opportunities are located across the U.S. in various settings. The NHSC Scholarship is very competitive, and seeks applicants who are dedicated to the mission of the Bureau of Primary Health Care. Applications are available in the FPB Financial Aid Office in early February. The deadline for submission is late March.
Gerontological Nursing Grants:
As our population ages across the country, the need for highly trained nurse practitioners increases. The FPB School of Nursing recognizes the need and has been successful in gaining financial support from various philanthropic foundations to support our program. Full-time graduates admitted to our MSN program, specializing in gerontological nursing are considered for grant support.
Anesthesia Nursing Grants:
The FPB School of Nursing is privileged to have been granted funding to provide tuition support for our Nurse Anesthesia program. Students admitted to our CRNA Program currently receive on average about one-third of their tuition cost. No additional application is required.

Midwest Nursing Research Society: Mentorship Grant
Amount: $1,000
To create opportunities for mentorship of doctoral students, postdoctoral fellows, and junior faculty by established researchers at another institution within the MNRS organization.
American Association for the History of Nursing (AAHN): H 15 Grants for Historical Research
Amount: $3,000
Designed for new researchers. It is expected that the research and new materials produced by the award winner will help ensure the growth of scholarly work focused on the history of nursing.
Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN): Sigma Theta Tau International/Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses Grant
Amount: $5,000
This grant is intended to encourage qualified nurses to conduct research related to perioperative nursing practice and contribute to the development of perioperative nursing science.
National Association of Pediatric Nurse Associates and Practitioners, Inc.; NAPNAP Foundation: Graduate Student Research Grant
Amount: $1,000
To support NAPNAP member graduate students in the conduct of research on children and youth.
National Association of Pediatric Nurse Associates and Practitioners, Inc.; NAPNAP Foundation: Nursing Research Grants
Amount: $2,500
To support and stimulate NAPNAP members to conduct relevant and innovate research on children and youth.
Sigma Theta Tau: Sigma Theta Tau/ Hospice and Palliative Nurses Foundation End of Life Nursing Care Research Grant
Amount: $10,000
To encourage qualified nurses to contribute to the advancement of nursing care through research. Proposals for pilot or developmental research may be submitted for the grant.
Sigma Theta Tau: Sigma Theta Tau International/Midwest Nursing Research Society Research Grant
Amount: $2,500
To encourage qualified nurses to contribute to the advancement of nursing through research; proposals for pilot and/or developmental research may be submitted.
Sigma Theta Tau: Sigma Theta Tau/Association of Nurses in AIDS Care Grant
Amount: $2,500
To encourage research career development of nurses through support of clinically oriented HIV/AIDS research and increase the number of HIV studies being done by nurses. This includes studies focused on HIV prevention, symptom management, promotion of self-care, and adherence.
DAISY Foundation: J. Patrick Barnes Grant for Evidence-Based Practice Projects
Amount: up to $2,000
Letter of Intent - To stimulate the use of patient-focused data and/or previously generated research findings to develop, implement and evaluate changes in nursing practice in treatment of patients with cancer and auto-immune diseases.

Robert Wood Johnson Foundation: Active Living Research and RWJF New Connections Grants Opportunities
This program supports research to inform policy and environmental strategies for increasing physical activity among children and adolescents, decreasing their sedentary behaviors and preventing obesity.

March of Dimes Birth Defects Foundation-National Prematurity Research Initiative
Amount: $100,000 - 175,000
The intent is to provide new insights into the large, and increasing, proportion of preterm deliveries in which the cause remains elusive.
National Black Nurses Association, Inc. (NBNA): Scholarships
Amount: $500-$2,000
Scholarships provide funding for continuing education. Must be a member of NBNA and a member of a local chapter (if one exists in the area); and have at least one full year of school remaining.
National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution: Irene and Daisy MacGregor Memorial Scholarship
Amount: $5,000
This scholarship is also available to graduate students in the field of psychiatric nursing.
