Your H Drive
Anyone that is a faculty or staff (non-grant) in the Bolton School has a special little place on our servers for your work. It is commonly referred to as your H Drive. No one has access to your H Drive but you (and the IT admins, of course). You may request permission for your assistant to have access if you choose, or we can create a departmental or project shared drive for you and your staff.
If you click on MY COMPUTER on your screen, you will be able to see your H Drive. This is a place where you can store work related items, such as documents, spss files, spreadsheets, etc.
We ask that you NOT store personal photos, music or videos of any type on your H Drive. This will decrease the space on the server for everyone. We do random searches for music files on the server, and they are deleted when they are found.
Other Server Drives
Your department or study may also have a shared drive (or two, or four!). The department head or project head are the people who are responsible for letting the IT department know who is to have access to the drives, as well as keeping them up to date in the event that access for an account is to be removed.
How to map your drives
If you are in need of disconnecting the old drive first, please see FAQ below.
1. You must be connected to the network here on campus, and logged into your INS profile.
2. Click on this link: \\nursekellye.case.edu (NOTE, this will open a popup. Please allow it)
3. Once the window opens, locate the folder you want to map to
4. RIGHT click the folder, and choose "map network drive"
5. Choose the appropriate letter (H if your H drive, another letter for dept. shares, etc)
6. Make sure "reconnect at login" is checked
7. Click ok
FAQ
Q: The above link does not allow me in to nursekellye/I'm trying to map to a share on Trapper/Radar/etc... What do I do?
A: Click on your start button. Choose run. Type the server name with two backslashes first, including .case.edu. If you are trying for nursekellye, it would look like this: \\nursekellye.case.edu
Click ok. The server shares will open in a new window.
Q: Can others access my H Drive?
A: No.
Q: I see all of these folders, can I access them too?
A: Only if you have access to them normally. Example, you cannot access others H drives, but if you have access to, lets say, the Discover drive normally, you would have access to it now.
Q. I have an old J/Share drive, and I need to replace that with the new, nursekellye drive. How do i delete it?
A. Go to My Computer, note the drive letter for remapping, RIGHT click the old drive, and choose DISCONNECT.
