How to Scan Photos

  1. Open the scanner top by lifting from the front
  2. Place the photo, face down, towards the back of the scanner
  3. Close the scanner top
  4. Double click on the “ScanWizard 5” icon


  5. Press the “Preview” button for a preview scan  
  6. After it is complete, you will be able to crop the scan area to fit the photo, or a portion of the photo, by dragging the dotted line to the size and area that you want


  7. Once you position to the size that you would like, you may use the buttons to the right to modify things such as color adjustment, output size etc…
  8. When you are ready for the scan, click on the “Scan To” button at the top
  9. You will now be asked what format to scan it into (for photos, choose JPG) and where to save it to.
    1. It is best to save it to YOUR jump drive, or network share
    2. If you do not have your media with you, you may save it to “My Documents” or the Microtek ScanWizard 5 Images folder. Be sure to delete them when you transfer them to your media, as anyone will have access to the files.
    3. MAKE SURE to give your file a name!



  10. Click Save
  11. It will now be in the folder you chose to save it to. You may close the ScanWizard 5 window, or, place another photo in the scanner, and hit “PREVIEW” to start again.
