- NOTE: if you do not see the icon, go to start/programs/Microsoft office/MS office tools/MS office document scanning
- Place the document either face down on the glass, or face up in the document feeder
- The scanning window will pop up. Click on “scanner” and choose the Microtek ScanWizard 5 as your selection

- Click ok in that window
- On the Scanning window, choose your preset for scanning (Color, Black and White, etc…)
- Be sure that “prompt for additional pages” and “view file after scanning” are checked
- Click on “Scan”
- The scanner will now scan what is on the glass/in the ADF
- If you have additional pages, insert them and press “continue”
- Press “done” if you are complete
- The OCR window will now open, and your scanning window will still be displayed
- Press “close” on the small scanning window
- Be sure that the pages you want are highlighted to the left, and now you may press the “send to word” icon on the toolbar
- If the icon is not there, click tools/send to word
- A window will popup.
- Choose which items to send to Word (All Pages is the best)
- Make sure maintain pictures in output is checked, if you want to maintain the pictures (does not work 100% of the time)
- Browse to find your default folder to save it to (IE: your jump drive, network drive, my documents…)
- Click ok
- Word will now open with your document.
- YOU WILL HAVE TO EDIT the document, as OCR does not scan perfectly.
- You may save it and do that at your computer
- Or edit in the scanning room and save again
- Make sure to save your Word doc again, and you are now done!
