How to use Case Wireless with your Laptop.
Please be sure to have all of your security measures taken care of before using the Case wireless system. You will find more information on that here: http://fpb.case.edu/IT/laptopsatnursing.shtm
These instructions are for Windows XP computers. For other operating systems, please refer to the University Help page: http://help.case.edu/connect/wireless/
For built in wireless cards:
- If your laptop has a wireless on/off switch (some Dell models, HP models, Toshiba models), PLEASE make sure it is turned on.
- Your laptop should receive the CaseGuest wireless signal, which is indicated in the task bar near the clock. NOTE: if it says that it detects wireless networks but not specifically CaseGuest, please click on the small computer icon in the system tray, highlight CaseGuest and click on CONNECT.

You are now connected to the wireless network at Case!
To connect to restricted access Case sites (VPN)
To connect to certain Case resources, such as journals, softwarecenter, etc… you will need to install and log into VPN. You do not need to be connected to VPN for things such as My Case, email, web, etc...
VPN needs to be downloaded and installed before a user is able to log into it.
How to download, install and log into VPN
1. Go to https://vpnsetup.case.edu/vpn3000.html and click to download VPN (The blue Windows rectangle...at the bottom of the page)
2. You may choose Run or Open, or you may save it to your "My Documents" for installing later.
3. Continue to click next, etc until it is finished. At that time, it will ask you to reboot.
4. After a reboot, to use VPN, you must LOG INTO IT.
5. Go to start/programs/cisco VPN and choose the VPN Client
6. Click on 'connect' and enter your UserID and password.
7. Once connected, you will see a small yellow lock icon in your system tray, near your computer clock. This means you are connected.
8. To disconnect (recommended before you shut down), right click on the lock icon in your system tray, and choose 'disconnect'.
NOTE: you do not need to use VPN if you are connected via Case's WIRED network. You will need to use VPN on wireless and outside ISPs to connect to Case Restricted items.
HOW TO MAKE A SHORTCUT on the desktop:
*Go to start/programs/cisco VPN/ and RIGHT CLICK VPN Client, choose "send to" then "desktop as shortcut".
