The following is a short interview with CWRU FPB Informatics alumnus, Rob Davis, DNP, RN. He is Dean of the Finn Center at Notre Dame College.
Feel free to contact Dr. Davis for questions at rdavis@ndc.edu.
"When I came to CWRU, I wasn't originally planning on getting a degree in informatics; Dr. Hudak changed all of that. Her classes are engaging, relevant, and build a solid foundation for one to enter the field of Healthcare Informatics. As a Nurse, I was very focused on the needs of Nursing coming into the program, but you quickly discover the interrelated needs of other professions, and the curriculum teaches you to be versatile and flexible in any future role. I've had positions in Research Informatics, Clinical Informatics, and even Quality/Performance Improvement, and excelled in all of them thanks to the knowledge base built from my time at CWRU.
"Right now I'm leading the development of interdisciplinary documentation for the University of Pennsylvania Health System, and I couldn't be happier with my career choice. Every day I use a combination of clinical knowledge, informatics concepts, and problem-solving processes in new and interesting ways. I never wanted a job where every day was the same, or a grind, and Healthcare IT is not one of those. There's always more to learn, and always more opportunities to grow. Without my education from CWRU, I would have never had these opportunities, and the people I met and knowledge I gained have stayed with me throughout my entire career."
