The PhD in Nursing program at the Bolton School is one of the first doctoral programs of nursing to gain international recognition. To achieve academic excellence, PhD students engage in activities consistent with the areas of research excellence of our faculty, who are committed to the intellectual growth of the student through mentorship and collaboration on scholarship.
Our PhD in Nursing program prepares you for a career as a researcher, scientist, or university-level faculty member. As a PhD student, you will have the opportunity to participate in the research that has a profound effect on the science of nursing and changing nursing practices.
PhD students concentrate on the organization and development of knowledge requisite to nursing practice for service to a particular population (see Characteristics
of the Graduate). PhD students are culturally diverse, and many develop and apply knowledge relevant to global health needs.
NOTE: The Bolton School does not administer the PhD Program. This responsibility belongs instead to the Case School of Graduate Studies. The doctoral program that is overseen by the Bolton School is the Doctor of Nursing Practice
(DNP); be sure to check out Which
