The Administrative Core under the direction of Dr. Shirley Moore provides the operational and financial oversight of the SMART Center and develops mechanisms to facilitate the interaction among the Cores and other faculty and centers within and outside the university. The Administrative Core oversees the Executive Committee and the External Advisory Committee. It provides strategic administrative oversight of the SMART Center, the three other Cores, and SMART-sponsored studies. |

The mission of the Scholarship & Mentoring Core is to enhance and develop productive programs of research in the area of self-management interventions, with a special emphasis among minority and health disparate populations. The Scholarship & Mentoring Core, led by Dr. Barb Daly, has the responsibility of most directly addressing the advancement of the science of self-management. |
The mission of the Methods & Statistics Core is the enhancement and development of productive programs of research in the area of self-management through strong methodological and statistical support. This core, led by Dr. Elizabeth Madigan, will provide support to the studies supported by the SMART Center and to the broader academic community at Case Western Reserve University. It will emphasize four resource areas: biostatistics, qualitative research support, item response theory expertise, and economic analyses. |

The goal of the Dissemination and Translation Core is to develop, implement, and evaluate activities to disseminate and translate research results in a timely fashion to stakeholders in the scientific, clinical, and policy communities. Led by Dr. Katherine Jones, the specific target groups for SMART Center dissemination and translation activities are determined by the level and strength of evidence that has been generated by completed, core and pilot studies. |
