Purpose

The mission of the Scholarship & Mentoring Core is to enhance and develop productive programs of research in the area of self-management interventions, with a special emphasis among minority and health disparate populations.  The Scholarship & Mentoring Core, led by Dr. Barb Daly, will have the responsibility of most directly addressing the advancement of the science of self-management.

  • Aim 1: Advance knowledge about self-management by drawing conclusions from studies addressing self-management across populations and differing levels of system (individual, family, organization, and community).
  • Aim 2: Provide infrastructure support for a pilot grant program on self-management intervention research.
  • Aim 3: Increase the capacity of scientists engaged in research in self-management interventions by mentoring of early as well as mid career faculty new to this area of research.
  • Aim 4: Increase self-management research and translation that is focused on minority and health disparate populations.
